On November 5, 2024, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the UNDP Resident Representative in Uzbekistan Akiko Fujii.
During the discussion, participants exchanged views on the current situation in Afghanistan and the international community's efforts to prevent a humanitarian crisis in the country. There was significant emphasis on the potential use of the international transport and logistics hub in Termez to deliver various humanitarian aid to Afghanistan. Additionally, the continuation of the joint project for the education and training of Afghan citizens at the Educational Center in the Surkhandarya region was discussed, highlighting the ongoing commitment to support the people of Afghanistan through education and humanitarian initiatives.
The parties emphasized the importance of further coordination of the actions of Uzbekistan and UN institutions for a peaceful settlement of the Afghan problem.
