On August 23, 2023, Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the senior staffer of the Foreign Relations Committee of the Senate of the United States Congress Charlotte Oldham-Moore.

During the conversation, the parties exchanged views on topical issues of the joint agenda. In particular, the representative of the Senate of the US Congress emphasized the need to create in Afghanistan a government based on broad representation, as well as to coordinate the efforts of the Central Asian countries and the world community to ensure the rights of women and girls in this country.

The parties also noted the importance of further coordination of the actions of Uzbekistan and the United States to provide humanitarian and other assistance to Afghanistan.
