On July 18, 2023, the Special Representative of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan for Afghanistan Ismatulla Irgashev met with the Advisor to the Conflictology Center of the European Institute of Peace Patrick de Vries via videoconference.

During the conversation, the parties discussed the current situation in Afghanistan, the efforts of the global community to restore the economy of the country, to provide the Afghan people with humanitarian and other assistance.

The European side highly appreciated the pragmatic steps taken by Uzbekistan to develop a consolidated regional position in relation to both the new authorities of Afghanistan and the solution of problems in the socio-economic revival of the country.

Patrick de Vries emphasized the need for coordinated actions of European countries with Uzbekistan in the Afghan direction.
