The delegation of Uzbekistan visited Bangladesh
On May 18-19, 2023, the delegation of the Republic of Uzbekistan led by Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Bakhromjon Aloyev visited Dhaka to participate in the political consultations between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the People's Republic of Bangladesh.
During the political consultations, the sides discussed prospects for the development of Uzbekistan-Bangladesh cooperation in political, trade, economic, investment, cultural, humanitarian, and other spheres.
Particular attention has been paid to the issues of enhancing economic diplomacy. The sides exchanged views on the upcoming events, including the meeting of the Uzbekistan-Bangladesh intergovernmental commission on economic cooperation. They also considered proposals to increase mutual trade, implement promising investment projects, and trade contracts.
Diplomats discussed the issues of expanding the contractual-legal base of bilateral relations. Delegations emphasized the importance of realizing the potential of cooperation in the fields of tourism and textiles, continuing support for direct contacts between business entities, chambers of commerce and industry, and textile associations of the two countries.
The agenda of the talks also included the issues of deepening inter-parliamentary ties, intensifying dialogue within international and regional organizations.
During the visit, the head of Uzbek delegation held separate talks with the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Bangladesh Abdul Momen, Minister of Trade Tipu Munshi, Advisor to the Prime Minister on Investments and Private Industry Salman Rahman, First Deputy Minister of Civil Aviation and Tourism Mokammel Hossain, Presidents of the Federation of Chambers of Commerce and Industry Jashim Uddin, Bangladesh-CIS Chamber of Commerce and Industry by Khabibulla Dawn, Bangladesh Textile Mills Association by Mohammed Haakon, as well as heads of a number of leading industrial companies. During these meetings, issues of further strengthening ties in aforementioned areas were discussed.
During the negotiations at the Chamber of Commerce and Industry, delegation of Uzbekistan organized the presentation of the trade, economic, investment and tourism potential of our country to representatives of the business circles of Bangladesh. The event showed the great interest of Bangladeshi business in the implementation of joint production projects in the fields of textiles, pharmaceuticals, and agricultural products in Uzbekistan.
